Genertec History
1952
China National Import Corporation organized by the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Trade was divided into specific importing companies including China National Machinery Import Corporation (CMC), China National Metals Import Corporation, and China National Chemical Import Corporation. And the Technical Import Division of the former Ministry of Trade was reorganized into China National Technical Import Corporation (CNTIC).
1998
China General Technology (Group) Co.,Ltd. (Genertec) was established to consolidate four enterprises directly under the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. CNTIC and CMC, both key members of Genertec, welcomed a new stage of development.

From 1978 to 1998 underwent a pivotal transformation aligned with China’s economic opening. During this period, the group played a key role in foreign trade, supporting the modernization of the national economy. It partnered with major financial institutions and began evolving from a trading company into a global provider of engineering and commercial services.
This shift positioned Genertec as one of the first Chinese state-owned enterprises to operate internationally. Subsidiaries like CMC and CNTIC expanded into overseas markets, laying the foundation for the group’s future global presence.

In 2022, Genertec integrated their internal resources and set up Genertec International Holding Co., ltd (Genertec International), which coordinates the international development of all subsidiaries of Genertec Group, such as Genertec Italia.
